The next score I composed wasn't until six months later. Help at home is a short film that explores the effects of AI and home assistance. The narrative follows Alfie and Meghan, a twenty-something couple that begin their journey on screen in conflict. We witness the flaws in their relationship, and in an attempt to fix this, Alfie purchases a home assistant whilst Meghan is away on a trip. On her return, the assistant seems to interfere intrusively, separately giving them both suggestions on how to better act with their partners. The film ends in a catastrophic moment, both in sound and screen, and the score for this film aimed to reflect all of the key cinematic junctures.

When I was first approached with the project, the director was set in wanting to establish musical themes for each character, using melodic techniques and auditory effects, but also had a relaxed approach in giving me lots of creative control and wanting me to experiment as far as I could. The deadline for this film was relaxed, and so over the months long edit process, I would change and adapt the tracks to align more with the restructured story and scenes. The film itself includes closer to ten tracks, all written to specific scenes, but the album only features four key moments which I believe are more powerful in scarcity.
